High School Art Class (senior 05-06)

Since art was so fun I took another class ;p

The first semester was supposed to be focused on commercial art and the second was a sort of studio lab where we get to do whatever we want. Having too much freedom was a little too much and didn't make me want to really do anything so I wasn't as productive as I could have been.

Especially with all the things going on senior year:
Classes (making sure I pass and good grades so I can graduate and go to a decent college), friends (hangning out since we may never see each other for a long time or never ahaha),
tennis, clubs (including art),
trying to find out what college to go to and a few occasional cases of senioritis. ;p

I still remember those days of doing some extra studying or homework during my studio time.

Despite all that, I was able to produce a few things and still have fun doing it.

This is a sketch I did on one of my spanish worksheets. haha. It's supposed to be a character from Animatrix which I translated to black and white for a later painting (black paint on white paper).

I was still relatively new to drawing things from life. This was one of those white on black teckniques for a still life. Not great, but it's worth putting up to show my early attempts.

A woodcut ( really cardboard ) of a random robot bomber thing. Fun stuff.

Ah...and a Warcraft piece! Around this time my friends and I were seriously addicted to the Warcraft 3 video game. I did this Night Elf piece (my favorite race at the time) from reference and put them together. It was the ink stippling technique. Quite addicting putting all those dots and making values with them despite being so time consuming.
Lesson: Don't try to do too many things all at once... breath!

High School Art Class (junior 04-05)

After not drawing much at all for the rest of middle school and first two years of high school (because of basketball, tennis, friends, and all sorts of videogames), I finally got into an art class. It was pretty fun learning some techniques using all kinds of materials. I wish I was able to stay in there longer instead of going to math, english, and such. The teacher, Mrs. Oskin was pretty cool though. It's amazing how teachers can deal with such a large group of wild high school kids.

I remember when the semester was over, she told me to join some sort of art group or club. I didn't really think too much of it, but now I'm really curious now as to what that art group was. Where did that paper go!? Man, I shouldn't have taken it for granted.

Lesson: If someone believes in you, don't take it for granted and believe in yourself too. (as cheesy as that may sound, but yeah!)

Learned about negative and positive shapes. Only allowed 3 pieces; cut out of black construction to make design. Dragon!

Unfortunately, this painting, the previous "dragon" and along with several of my artwork from this class all got wet (as you can see in the top corner) because I was careless. Deng it!

Can't really remember doing much or any at all of "still lifes." One of my first! Lunch bags. I wonder if they were empty.

Impasto like technique or something. Supposed to be a fountain in a yard, from a picture I found in a magazine.

I Found Some!

Woohoo! I found some of my old drawings that I did when I was about 12 years old.

Not a bad place to start my new blog. yeah!

These aren't my favorite "old" artwork; the ones I did in elementary school were, but finding these still made me feel great. I hope I can find the others too.

Ifrit from Final Fantasy VIII. This was about the time I was playing the game. Good times....simple times.

Dragonball Z baby!

I miss those late nights of watching Toonami on Cartoon Network (when it was still freakin awesome).

It takes them 5 or more episodes of powering up haha. Now that's powerful! Staring contests and screaming by overly muscular characters...epic!

This made me laugh hard. Talk about my character design skills!

I basically took a dude, put Super Sayan Hair on him on top of Squall Leonheart's (FFVIII) body. ahahhahaa.

And of course some weapon designs. i probably did them during class, being bored and all. The only thing cooler than the sexy designs of the weapons are the names I gave them (ahahaha): Crystal Flare, Mythral Quasar (misspelled) and Bleeding Dragon! Oh yeah! watch out now!

Lesson: Seeing these again made me smile, laugh, and feel like a kid again. It's very inspiring to see your old things so make sure you don't throw away or rip up your work! And date them too!
